Large-scale Moscow's Assaults Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital

The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water systems, as stated by local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while officials has requested "real steps" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in supplying protection systems and implementing penalties," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes hit electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area experienced significant strikes during nighttime hours. A young boy lost their life and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults come after periods of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.

The entire country is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were anticipating further attacks.
